With Mollie’s birthday coming up I decided to head off to the consignment shop to find a new bedroom set for her.
“Hey you must be new in town, I’m Lydia. Call me Liddy.”
His name was Barrett and he lived just across from the shop. He had only been in town a few weeks.
We really hit it off and since he had never been in town for a full moon, I invited him back to our place to enjoy the festivities.
He loved to cook. He tried boasting about his culinary prowess.
“You know, Liddy, I can cook grilled cheese like nobody’s business.”
“HA! Firecracker shrimp is where it’s at. You are so lame.”
Victor was amused by the banter but ended up heading to bed. He had work the next morning. Typical.
“That son of yours is pretty darn cute, Liddy.”
“If you think he is cute you should see my daughter. Spitfire and cute that one. She’s smart too!”
“Just like her momma then, I guess.”
“I am attracted to you, Liddy. If you ever get lonely, need a friend, call me.”
“Oh…well it would really be just as friends, Barrett. JUST AS FRIENDS.”
“Oh, right. No harm no foul, right?”
“I won’t tell if you don’t.”
Well, that could have been bad. The scary thing is…I had a difficult time saying “just friends.”
