The next morning I got a phone call from the Alchemy shop.
After I got off the phone I stopped Victor on his way to work.
“VICTOR! OH MY GOD! VICTOR! I have amazing news!”
Victor thought that I was pregnant. Obviously he missed anatomy and biology in high school.
“MY POTIONS SOLD! All of them! $30,000 worth of potions! I’ve made it! Oh my God, Vic! I’ve made it! They just promoted me to master alchemist! We won’t need to worry about money ever again. Well, for awhile at least!”
“Liddy, baby, that’s wonderful! Let’s move!”
“What?! We just got settled!”
“Let’s move somewhere better. Bigger! With a nursery fit for a princess…or prince. And a kitchen where you could cook all your wonderful meals. And an office where I can write in private. And a greenhouse for your garden. And…”
Even after we cracked open the bottle of nectar he was still going.
“Oh, Liddy, I am so proud of you. This is incredible. I knew you could do it. Oh, you are a wonderful, amazing, intelligent woman. I love you! I’m going to go look at real estate listings. We will find the most perfect house for you. For us. For our family. Oh, I love you.”
Night and day Victor searched the listings.
“LIDDY, I’VE FOUND IT!”
Two car garage. Greenhouse with a built in composter and watering system. A third floor alchemy studio. A huge master bedroom. A wonderful kitchen and dining room. The laundry room…oh lord, it’s amazing. The nursery is…this is the home for us. If only we could afford it.
